Realized I haven't introduced myself yet, where are my manners?
My name is Lily, I'm 22 yrs old, i live in The Netherlands.
I've been playing this game for 4 years now, and still enjoy it
I enjoy: PvE, Going on a skill hunt, shutting down casters, vanquishing, HM dungeons, Urgoz's Warren.
I do not enjoy: Frontline battle (although I do seem to like Derv and IW mezzies), grinding for HoM, The Deep, PvP, Speedclears, KISS, Rank nazi's.
My favorite profession is Mesmer.
To make cash I farm feathers, vaettirs, ectos in UW and Fastfoot outside Rilohn Refuge.
My IGN's are : Lorelei Winterborn, Lily Winterborn, Avira Winterborn, Lady Fleshwound, Cruella Hagen and Nyx Bloodcleanser.
You are free to add me, maybe we could play together

Hello - I'm new to the forum and quite new to the game, only started playing last year. My name is Dan and I live in Canterbury in the UK. I play mostly PvE with my sons Rafferty and Monty, and my old medical school buddy Mat who introduced us to the game (he played quite seriously 3-4 years ago and is now rediscovering the game with us). We have a tiny little guild - The Path Least Travelled (PATH)
Must say - this is turning out to be the best fun I have ever had with a computer. Currently finishing off EOTN and Nightfall, and starting to vanquish Tyria and Cantha. Have just started trying PvP in FA but at present dying a lot :-) Hopefully this will change!

Hello everyone. GW vet, started from right after the beta ended. I recently made my semi-full time return to GW after a very long hiatus (almost 2 years, although I still logged on just to get new masks) because of what happened to my spear assassin Kira Videl. Here's the story behind it.
Back then, assassins with spears was unheard of and I wanted to be the first of this kind to become legendary survivor (had 2 previous failed LG attempts on other classes). I succeeded in accomplishing this feat. Then I decided to try to set a GW record for most exp with 0 deaths by a spear sin. This happened to be the only thing holding my interest in the game at the time, to keep her undefeated. One day, I was in one of the Charr areas of EotN against some boss. Battle was going good until I lost focus for a few moments to see something on tv. Next thing I knew, half my party is dead and I'm on the verge of death. I quickly zone back to the nearest outpost I can click on... but I wasn't quick enough. Died right before transport. I quit playing after that, upset over it. Despite my absense, I inspired a few people to try their hand at being a spear sin. Don't know how well they did.
But now I'm back on a regular basis. Forgotten so much about GW that it's like I'm playing it for the first time again, slowly re-learning almost everything. PvE only. I have at least one of every class, including a 2nd assassin (uses daggers) and a new "smiting only" monk I'm working on.

Hi there GW Guru members and greetings from Cape Town. I'm quite a frequent poster on GW2 Guru and have been following the development of the game for some time now. However, I recently took the plunge and bought the Guild Wars Trilogy pack and the EotN expansion pack ... and all I can say, is that I wish I'd done it sooner!
Years ago, I went to our local game store wanting to try out an MMO and I actually had a copy of Guild Wars in my hand and made my way towards the pay counter. As fate would have it, I had a phone call just there and then from a friend asking me if I got "it" yet and I said yes, I'll have Guild Wars installed an ready by the evening, to which he replied " ... no dude, you've got the wrong game! You have to get 'the other one' ...". Apparently he told me the game he played and the SA guild's name and I either got confused, or I was just completely mesmerized by the GW box artwork and reading about it on the cover.
Needless to say, I had great fun in all the MMO's I've played (WoW, WAR, AoC and LotRo), but especially WoW and LotRo. I regret having waited so long to try out Guild Wars and I can tell you, I'm completely blown away by it's beauty and I'm having loads of fun playing it. It's my third day now. Anyway, I just thought I'd pop in and say hi!

Welcome.
GW doesn't appeal to a lot of people playing traditional MMO's.
That being said I do believe that GW is one of the more successful MMO-style games so I don't know how you managed to overlook it.

I missed it myself in the early years simply because to me it was marketed as a bg PvP game.
too many traditional MMO players STILL don't know about this game, but the GW2 hype is leading a few to it.

Be sure to remember this, because there are also plenty of people claiming the game is dying and more of that rubbish. You joining the game proves otherwise. Just ignore those people and enjoy the game, there's plenty to explore.
I might even be a bit jealous of you... being able to experience the entirety of GW without knowing what is around the next corner
Welcome to the game and Guru!

It's great that you really like the game so far, but a word of advice: you need to get the hell out of presearing. That area constitutes probably less than one percent of the game as a whole, and staying there for weeks (months?) before experiencing anything else is a terrible waste of time and potential. You might amass a small pile of gold from Nick gifts or whatever, but the solo play is not at all representative of what GW is about.

I started Guild Wars a few days ago. I love it. I am now in post and level 9 and kicking butt. Got into a nice Guild when I was in pre.

Hello!
My wife and I just picked up GW for the first time...I know, I know...we're a bit late to the party! Even worse, we're mostly picking it up because we're interested in GW2 and wanted to get a feel for GW1
But what the heck, we're here, and we're getting into GW1 - having fun after one night of being totally and completely clueless!
So I figured I'd say hi and check out the community.
